Accredited Online Graduate Schools: Researching & Reviews

Trying to figure out if grad school is the right decision right now? It’s not an easy one–there are so many things to consider. Should you go right after finishing your bachelor’s? Or should you opt for a couple years of career experience? What should your specialty be–should you specialize more for your major or broaden you topic some?

And now you have something else to consider-should you start applying to traditional, on-campus programs, or should you consider one of the many accredited online graduate schools that are becoming a more and more popular option?

Choosing Between Accredited Online Graduate Schools and On-Campus Programs

There are advantages and disadvantages to both, although you wouldn’t know it from some of the schools promotional materials. Of course, that’s what PR materials are for. But it’s critical to recognize that and do your own independent research.

Which program is best for you will have a lot to do with your own personal goals and what you want to get from the program itself. If you’re thinking about grad school primarily to learn more about your topic-in terms of facts, figures, and so on-then an accredited online graduate schools might be perfect. You avoid a lot of the inconvenience of on-campus work, while still being challenged with a high quality curriculum.

If, though, you’re more interested in abstract aspects of your field, being able to interact face to face with faculty members and other grad students may be of increased importance to you. Accredited online graduate schools are more dynamic and interactive than ever before, but if your concept of grad school isn’t just classroom lectures, but sitting around drinking endless cups of coffee and discussing those lectures with your friends in a coffee shop afterwards, on campus might be a better choice.
