Accredited Online Masters Degree: FAQ
- Is it really possible to find online graduate programs?
Absolutely! And it’s getting easier to find online graduate programs all the time. Distance learning is swiftly being recognized as one of the most innovative and revolutionary forms of education. It’s a dynamic way for people to obtain higher level degrees no matter where they live or what obligations they have that would interfere with long term residency, commuting, or relocation. - Are there respected, credible online master’s degree programs?
There certainly are. There are excellent programs offering accredited online masters degree study from respectable traditional universities, from well-established online universities and colleges, and from new, innovative distance learning educational institutions. - How are online master’s degree programs different from traditional programs?
The only big difference between an accredited online masters degree program and a traditional program is that you’re studying at home, and not commuting, relocating, or taking up residency for the duration of the program. But even that difference isn’t as big a difference as you might imagine. - How can I be sure the online university or college offering the program is for real?
Check their accreditation with the U.S. Department of Education and investigate the school’s reputation, especially in your field. Look and see who their alumni include, too, and check out their faculty credentials before you enroll in an accredited online masters degree program. - Are online grad programs a lot easier than traditional ones?
It depends on what you mean by “easier.” Logistically easier, yes, if the obstacle that’s been between you and your graduate degree is primarily due to the difficulty of residency or attendance requirements. Academically speaking, an accredited online masters degree is equally as challenging as a traditional graduate degree program at a brick-and-mortar institution of higher education.
