Doctorate degrees are the highest level of educational achievement that can be earned in academic degrees, and as in Master’s, doctor degrees, doctorate degrees may be either a professional or academic one. The Doctor of Medicine (MD) and the Juris Doctor (JD) are professional degrees for practicing medicine or law. As for an academic doctorate degree, the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.), focus on advancing knowledge through original research in a given academic field.
